Space around the clouds

The space around the clouds,
Though cheery light blue,
Is filled with haunting silence,
And dreams that never came true.
At night it is a chilling black,
To look at it makes a brave man cry,
It speaks to me of love that failed,
And a star that it saw die.
The space around the clouds,
Knows nothing of writing or reading,
All that it has ever seen,
Is death, destruction, and bleeding.
